| What is yalls take on the Knights Templar?: Christian Warriors who escorted the crusaders to the holy land? Evil pillagers who killed and slayed many people and blackmaled the Catholic Church? The smartest group of people from the era because of their advances that has become a part of everyday life now? or a compilation of this or a whole other take? | |

| hmmm. I can't really give you any bio produced from me, because I cannot provide every aspect there is out there about the Knights Templar, only because there is so much information. However, I can point you into some directions to give you a fairly well-rounded idea of who they were.
Wikipedia is always a pretty quick, go to resource (although you do have to take into account reliability) Templar Secret Island Anything to do with the Holy Grail They're plenty of resources at Borders and Barnes n Noble
now, if you would like for me to share what I know and my take, I'll gladly share.

| I can give you a spark note version of my personal thoughts and feelings...
My take is kind of a mix and match of the theories that are out there. Starting off as a group of nights escorting the Christians during the Crusades. While they were in the Holy Land, they found something (we don't really know what it was, but there are theories: King Solomon's Treasure, The "Holy Grail"--which ever take you would like to make, etc.). Now this next part won't be in any chronological order but I'm just listing off from the readings that I think of first.
The Knights Templar were really smart and excellent and numerous disciplines. If you read into Templar Secret Island, the book is basically talking about an island off of Denmark, Bornholm, if I remember correctly. Basically it covers the geometrical locations of the churches/fortresses (because the churches were also used as strongholds in some cases, so they were built for protection also), the elaborate designs in each and the peculiar shapes of the structures themselves, and a few other things concerning that. There are also some other mathematical statistics in there.
Also our system of banking that we’ve adopted pretty much started off from the KT. Over time they did get really powerful and all we know is that they went to the Vatican and when they left, they had absolute power, free reign, they were above the law (reasons once again are unknown and we are left up to theories: either by bribe with findings or blackmail to share what they’ve found—depending on the theory you believe as to whether it was the treasure or the “Holy Grail” respectively). After a while, the pope became scared of their power. Then he eventually got the idea to send a letter to all the soldiers. The letter had to be open on a certain day at a certain time, so all the letters would be opened at the same time. The letter pretty much said that the Pope had a dream that God spoke to him and told him to have the KT killed because they were “devil-worshippers, rapists, child molesters, cross burners,” and basically anything else that they would be executed over at the time. So it turned into a huge killing spree and the survivors ran and became part of the Scottish guilds of the masons.
That’s my quick ‘plotsummation’ of my take on the Knights Templar, doesn’t mean it’s correct or not, but my beliefs on it. If anyone feels the same way or differently, please share, because I would like all the points of view on the matter!

| From what i heard from a friend at school...they were over taken because of fraud, money coming in from sources unknown. Am i right? Appearntly they are a big move on Jerusalem, and have been around for centuries. The corruption i think is what took them over...but they had good intensions from the start of they're formation. | |

| Yeah, overall that was the trend: starting off with good intentions over time corruption taking them over. At least that's how it was made to look ;-)
For the money coming in from unknown sources. I'm not sure if that was a big thing at the time, I'll have to look into that.
